Dr. Ayala Laufer of Herbal Water opens a what she calls a ‘can of worms’ here by suggesting a junk food tax. She and the comments I have read seem to support the idea that this will send a strong message. Indeed, I would have to agree. Many kinds of junk foods are not charged sales tax which gives the impression that they are actually food. Such a tax would send a message that might think someone think twice about picking up that extra ‘bag of chips’.

In addition to sending a strong message, such a tax would product extra revenue. It would increase state revenue at a time when it is most needed. Where I live, the sales tax is 9% and if I am correct, junk food is one of the biggest selling food items. That might even solve a budget problem singlehandedly!

The tricky part of course is defining what is junk food and what is not. Someone would have to establish a line between real food and junk food. That line would probably be drawn on the basis of nutritional value since that is measurable. I know this has been tried before and that was where they got stuck. It’s particularly sticky when you get to products like those fruit, nut, and grain bars which admittedly do have some food value but they usually also have sugar to make them taste good. So where to draw the line?

Some nutritional and health supplements will lend you believe things that are questionable like making cure claims. Nutritional and health supplements do not cure anything; however they do something even more important than drugs can do. They enable your body.

A good whole food nutritional supplement like SeaAloe gives you a healthy dose of nutritional components that you literraly cannot get anywhere else. Add to that, a super food product like SuperFruits GT to provide your body with powerful antioxidants. Arming your body with good supplement choices will help your own body to heal and in some cases cure itself. Supplements in non whole food pill form don’t count.

Have you ever noticed that the items most commonly on sale in the grocery store are the ones that are least good for you? Maybe you’ve noticed it, but never really consciously thought about it. But take a good look next time you’re there. You’ll see what I’m talking about. Candy, ice cream, soda pop, and chips are commonly marked down. And most of the time, these items are moved to display locations in the store where you are certain to see them.

Everyone wants to save money now days, but be careful what you ’save money’ on. There is no point letting the stores promote unhealthy choices for you. You can empower yourself by walking right by those sale displays and focusing on the items you came for. Needless to say, it helps to have a list to work from. Going to the store without a shopping list is recipe for disaster. Now add these healthy choices to your list. It’s not marked down; it’s a good value at a good price. Oh and you can’t buy them in the store. SeaAloe and SuperFruits GT

Resveratrol is the component of red wine thought to reduce causes of mortality. However, that presents a paradox: How to you get enough resveratrol without over doing it? That is not possible using red wine. Too much red wine – for that matter too much of any wine – will cause damage to organs; most notably the liver. “Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research” is a journal publication which will report on the issue of resveratrol and other polyphenols found in red wine.

Fortunately, you can find plenty of resveratrol in a non alcohlic form in SuperFruits GT. It’s a delicous way to get resveratrol along with other antioxidant components like acai berry. I have been using SuperFruits GT since it came out in February and have experienced tremendous results from it. My doctor commended me on my normal blood sugar level and my low cholesterol. So see what it can do for you.

Have you ever tasted Acai berry? It really isn’t one of the more tasty berries. It has a sour, rather pungent taste that doesn’t really make for a good drink on its own. That’s one of the reasons that SuperFruits GT contains Acai berry as just one of its ingredients. Along with Acai, it has Mangosteen, Goji Berry, and Blueberry – along pears and grapes for flavor. But even with, you can taste the Acai better; so you know it’s a strong ingredient.

In many so called Acai berry drinks, you can’t even taste the Acai. What that usually means is that there is so little Acai that you can’t taste it. And if there is so little of it, then you won’t get any significant antioxidant value from it. So if you can’t taste it, you probably don’t have it.

I finally got a chance to try those “Fiber Choice” tablets. If you don’t know what they are, they are chewable tablets that have fiber from vegetable and fruit sources in them. Each tablet contains 2 grams of dietary fiber so if you “chew a few”, it’s possible to have them as a decent alternate source of dietary fiber. It’s a pretty good idea because of the portability of them. They come in small tubes of 10 tablets or larger bottles of 90 tablets.

But the taste? Yuck! I think they share the same problem as most fiber supplements; icky and hard to swallow. It tasted a bit like a weak Sweet-tart candy. I suppose one could get used to them, but I only bought the 10 tablet tube to try them out. I will stick with natural sources of fiber (there are unnatural ingredients in Fiber Choice tablets) and my favorite supplements: SeaAloe and SuperFruits GT.

The role good nutrition in maintaining good health has long been known. Books have been published around this subject for more than 100 years. Case in point: “Diet in Sickness and Health” By M. Ernest Hart was published in 1895 and much of it is still relevant today. It addresses such subjects as Diabetes managed by diet in a surprisingly relevant fashion. Why is that?

Well some things never really change and this is one of them. What you put into your body affects how your body functions. And the reason this issue is even more relevant today than in Hart’s time is that our diets are so loaded with packaged, smoked, cured, and otherwise, pre-prepared (loaded with preservatives) food. Time to get back to basics! And you don’t necessarily have to think organic food.

Just stick with the produce and meats that are fresh and not cured. You can buy one of those bread machines and make your own bread products too. Supplement those changes with powerful liquid whole food supplements like SeaAloe and SuperFruits GT and you’ll have a more natural diet. Superior health will ultimately follow.

Why are there so many acai products on the market? You find many specialty products online with acai berry – like Monavie and Acai Plus. You will also find many products in your local supplement store and even the health food sections of Wal-Mart!

What you may not realize about these commonly available products is that they are literally cheap knock offs. No all acai products are equal – not by a long shot. Most mass produced variations you see on the store shelves have poor quality acai berry in them.

Acai does not keep very well and must be processed soon after harvesting from the Acai Palm. If it sits around too long after being harvested, it goes bad very quickly. Suppliers can buy up these ’spoiled acai batches’ very cheap. They can use them in the in the juice or pill and the buyer won’t be any wiser for it. This way they churn a handsome profit by paying very little for the ingredient but marking it up to the level of the real acai products.

Stick with the dedicated Acai products like SuperFruits GT and your money will be much better spent!

Remember that commercial from the 1980’s? “Where’s the Beef”?. If you’re too young to remember that, it was a older woman who opened her hamburger only to find a tiny beef patty inside and she exclaimed “Where’s the Beef?”. I can say the same thing about some acai berry juices (and I use the word juice loosely). Many of them really have so little acai berry in them that it renders the ‘juice’ useless. Or maybe it’s a drink pretending to be a juice.

Case in point: Vitamin Water. I have to admit I have been on a Vitamin Water kick lately. I like the taste of the low sugar XXX variety. What does XXX stand for? No it’s not what you think. It means triple antioxidant. The formula boasts acai berry, blueberry, and pomegranate. Read the label closely and it says “less than 1% juice”.

That means you aren’t getting much acai (or blueberry or pomegranate for that matter). What you are getting is flavored water. Why do I drink it? I think it’s a refreshing beverage especially when poured over ice now that it’s summer. However, I don’t look for it to solve any nutritional needs. For that purpose I look to my acai supplement: SuperFruits GT. Now there’s the acai!

There are at least 2 issues with synthetic nutritional supplements: waste and side effects. Since your body doesn’t recognize a synthetic supplement, much of it will go to waste. There is also growing evidence that, at least certain synthetic supplements contribute to mortality.

Most people don’t take the time to differentiate between synthetic supplements and whole food supplements. Synthetic supplements are isolated nutritional compounds and whole food supplements are supplements that simply left in their food source to be taken. An example of a synthetic supplement would be the standard one-a-day vitamin. It only contains the vitamins it says it has, plus some filler material to suspend the vitamins. Oh and they’re created in a laboratory. An example of a whole food supplement would be SeaAloe. Left in its natural forms, the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients are found along with the same complex array of trace elements as they are found in nature.

Taking synthetic vitamins and minerals is at best a waste and at worst very harmful. If you really want to supplement your food, choose a whole food supplement and consider the vast difference.
